Board Nomination Process

The Society for the Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts (Division 10 of APA) holds annual elections to select leadership for our Executive Committee. We welcome nominations from all eligible members who are passionate about advancing the field of psychology of aesthetics, creativity, and the arts. Serving on the Executive Committee is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the field while gaining valuable leadership experience and networking with researchers and practitioners.

  • Leadership positions vary each year but typically include:

    • President/President-Elect (2-year term)

    • Secretary (3-year term)

    • Treasurer (3-year term)

    • Members-at-Large (3-year term, usually 2 positions)

    • Student Representative (2-year term, must be enrolled graduate student)

    • International Representative (3-year term)

    • Council Representatives (3-year term)

  • Self-Nomination

    Members may nominate themselves by submitting:

    • Candidate Statement: Exactly 250 words

    • Full name and current affiliation

    • Contact information


    Nominating Others

    You may nominate others by:

    1. Encouraging other qualified members to self-nominate by sharing nomination information with them.

    2. Contacting the nomination chair (who will reach out to the recommended nominee directly).

    Nomination information is distributed through the Division 10 Listserv during election season (see Timeline).

  • All Positions: Must be a member of Division 10

    • Council Representatives: Must also be APA members eligible to vote

    • Student Representative: Must hold graduate student status during term

    • Executive Committee Members: Expected to attend annual Executive Committee meeting at APA Convention and Div 10 Research Conference

    • Call for Nominations: Mid-January*

    • Nomination Deadline: Early to Mid-February*

    • Elections: April-May *

    • Terms Begin: August 1st
