Call for Associate Editor Nominations for Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, & the Arts (PACA): Due December 15, 2025

Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts (PACA), the official publication of APA’s Division 10 (Society for the Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts), is seeking applicants to fill 1 to 2 Associate Editor positions. Appointments for the Associate Editor role are for the duration of 2 years but may be extended upon mutual agreement among the editors. Associate Editor terms typically run August 1 – July 30, but for the current position(s), we are seeking Associate Editors to begin their service February 1, 2026.

PACA is devoted to promoting scholarship on the psychology of the production and appreciation of the arts and all aspects of aesthetic and creative endeavor. To that end, we publish manuscripts presenting original empirical research and papers that synthesize and evaluate extant research that relates to the psychology of aesthetics, creativity, and the arts. The journal also has a mechanism for registered reports and encourages open science practices.

Associate Editors are expected to handle approximately 30-40 manuscripts per year for PACA, in the process making decision recommendations to Editors Amy Belfi and Selcuk Acar.  During their years of service, Associate Editors receive an annual stipend for their service (the stipend will be pro-rated for half a year for February-July, 2026), as well as a complimentary electronic subscription to PACA.

Candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree in a field relevant to the focus of the journal.
  • Experience as a reviewer and/or editor for peer-reviewed journals. Experience serving as reviewer for PACA is desired.
  • Substantial scholarly contributions to the psychology of aesthetics, creativity, and the arts.
  • A strong commitment to PACA’s mission.
  • Balanced expertise and experience with the current editorial team, given the range of topics and methods published in the journal.
  • The ability to work with and communicate in a timely manner with the editorial, production, and marketing teams as well as authors of manuscripts under consideration.

Nominations (including self-nominations) should include the following items:

  1. The candidate’s CV
  2. A cover letter describing the candidate’s vision for the journal and detailing area(s) and range of expertise and reviewing and editorial experience (maximum: 2 single-spaced pages)
  3. Two letters of recommendation

Please send application materials and have recommendation letters sent directly to Amy Belfi (amybelfi@mst.edu) and Selcuk Acar (Selcuk.Acar@unt.edu) by Monday, December 15, 2025, 11 pm EST. If you have any questions or need additional information regarding this opportunity, please do not hesitate to contact them directly.
